    Really Good Charger

Posted by Just a buyer on 3rd Jan 2019

I've owned an Maha 8 slot charger for other DC batteries (D,C,AA,AAA) for 4 years and really like it so bought this to try for 9 volts. It is designed for NiMH batteries only. I have charged a total of 35, 9 volt NiMH batteries, three different brands, rated 7.2, 8.4, an 9.6 volts, (none Powerex). Had some that I didn't know if they were designed for rapid charge so first put one in the center bank . Why ? If you go to the Maha web site you will find, under support for this unit, that the center two banks charge slower than the other 8 banks . Now that isn't specified in the regular instructions . That leads me to believe the two center banks probably are charging with less current . IF I'm right that can be a good thing if the battery isn't rated to rapid charge or you want to slow charge . Anyway I did that and checked to see if the battery got hot and if not put the rest in rapid charge slots as well, (none did get hot) . This thing charges with the batteries remaining cool to touch, (just like my other one), plus all reached their rated volts or a little better except for two really old ones . They only reached 4.5 volts and I tossed them after trying again with my SLOW charger . Read ALL the instructions carefully, follow the procedure for starting the unit up and you should have good luck I did and love this thing . None of my batteries were new but all do great after charging with this . Use them in metal detectors, remote hunting , lights, etc .
